Deep Tissue Massage: Is used to release chronic muscle tension. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissue, release toxins from muscles and get blood oxygen flowing properly. The purpose is to “unstick” the fibers of a muscle whole releasing deeply held patterns of tension, removing toxins, while relaxing and smoothing the muscle. It is both corrective and therapeutic.
Reflexology: Is a form of therapeutic treatment applied to the feet and hands based on reflex areas corresponding to all the parts of the body including major organs. Reflexology is not a ‘cure-all’ however, it does help relieve pain associated with a migraine, sinus problems, breathing disorders, circulatory problems, back problems, tension, and stress.
Sports Massage: Is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. It also increases blood circulation, lymph flow, and relieves pain.
Trigger Point Therapy: Is a bodywork technique that involves applying pressure to tender muscle tissue. The purpose is to eliminate pain and to re-educate the muscles into pain-free habits. After several treatments, the swelling and stiffness of neuromuscular pain is reduced, range of motion is increased, tension is relieved, and circulation, flexibility and coordination are improved.
Swedish Relaxation Massage: Is a body work that involves rubbing in the same direction as the flow of the blood returning to the heart. The main purpose is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well being.
Hot Stone Massage: Promotes deep muscle and tissue relaxation, alleviates stress, releases toxins, relieves pain, improves circulation, and calms the psyche. Hot Stones can treat some health conditions, such as muscular aches and pains, back pain, MS, arthritis, fibromyalgia, stress, anxiety, circulatory problems, insomnia, and depression.
Cryotherapy: Involves rubbing ice over a body part to be treated. This allows the therapist to work on deeper muscles.
Prenatal Massage: Is designed to relieve the discomfort and stress of pregnancy while making special adjustment to normal massage practice. In addition, it has a number of benefits for mothers-to-be: reduces stress levels, eases back and foot pain, reduces swelling of feet and ankles, improves skin elasticity, reducing stretch marks, improves sleep, improves digestion, relaxes and soothes the baby, and reduces pelvic pain.
La Stone Therapy: Also known as hot and cold stone therapy, is a type of massage that used heated and cooled stones to relieve stiffness and soreness to restore energy to aching muscles and joints. The warm stones encourage the exchange of blood and lymph circulation throughout the body, and provide soothing and healing heat for deep-tissue work. The cold stones are applies to aid with inflammation, to encourage blood to move away from a swollen area. La Stone is known for encouraging the circulatory system and self healing process.
Aromatherapy Massage: Is ideal for tense, restless, and overworked muscles. It is particularly suited to conditions involving stress or improving emotionally-related conditions. Each essential oil has different healing properties. For example, some calm while others energize. When you inhale essential oil molecules, messages are transmitted to the limbic system and affect heart rate, stress level, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion, and the immune system.
Ashiatsu Bar Massage: Ashiatsu oriental bar therapy is an adaptation of traditional ashiatsu barefoot massage. It involves a rhythmic stroking of pressure over the body. The technique uses a combination of gravitational force and deep compression massage to relieve muscle pain through a push-pull-pumping effect on the muscles of the patient. Overhead bars are used by the therapist for balance and control over the patient while they apply the foot massage. Proper technique will stimulate the lymphatic system and produce deep relaxation. This form of massage therapy is very beneficial for patients suffering from chronic back pain. This is because the pressure strokes of the feet are applied along the para-spinals and the lumbar region of the back – which eases muscle spasm. The compression movements also help to open the intervertebral foramen (a passageway in a bone for nerves). This allows pressure and pain relief of the nerve, because the foramen now has more space to retake its natural position. Other benefits of ashiatsu oriental bar therapy include reduced stress, relaxation, reduction of inflammation and swelling of the spine, pain relief, long-term stress reduction, and an increase in the patients overall well being and health.
Cupping Massage: Massage cupping is a form of therapeutic bodywork that is used to facilitate deep tissue release and aid in bringing about numerous healthful benefits to the body such as: Enhanced flexibility, lymphatic/blood circulation, tissue nourishment, and body detoxification. Massage cupping is performed by applying “reverse pressure” to the body, via plastic suction cups that are generally placed or massaged along problem areas, in the direction of natural lymphatic flow. Suction cups may be magnetic or non-magnetic, with positive and negative poles, to help enhance the tissue healing process. Sessions are typically 10-20 minutes in length, and can be integrated with traditional massage therapies. The technique namely focuses on reducing stagnation and restrictions in problem areas by breaking down adhesions/knots, and by helping to increase fluid/blood circulation. Massage cupping helps to reduce the build-up of cellular waste, toxins, inflammation and excess fluids by assisting in dragging them from deep within muscles/soft tissue, to the body’s surface, where they can be more efficiently disposed of, via the lymphatic system.
